Current Projects
These seed projects, led by the POWER consortium in collaboration with government and policy partners, focus on leveraging data and evidence to address gender disparities in economic opportunities and mobility. By piloting AI-powered data tools, evaluating job market interventions, and studying gendered transport challenges, these initiatives aim to inform policies that enhance women's empowerment and well-being across Malawi and Ethiopia.

Who Drives Our Work
The Africa POWER Consortium is a collaboration of five organizations—AFIDEP, AidData, EconInsight, HCI at BU’s GDP Center, and IDinsight—focused on data-driven research for women's empowerment. Through policy analysis, impact evaluation, and applied research, we generate insights to inform decision-making. Our goal is to strengthen evidence-based strategies that advance gender equity across Africa.
OUR PARTNERS
"Do we know an empowered woman when we see her?"
-Mahesh Karra, Director of Africa POWER Consortium
What Drives Our Work

Our research is rooted in rigorous data analysis, producing insights that drive effective policy and program design. By collaborating with organizations across sectors, we strengthen the connection between research and real-world impact.
